APA citations
You already know that direct quotations need to be "cited," that is, attributed to the original author. The same holds true for ideas that you pick up from an article, book or website. Be sure to let your reader know where you found that cool idea -- they may want to go read more about it, and your citation is their road map to the source.
In order to format your citation correctly, consult the APA Manual, Sixth Edition. There are copies of it at the Reference Desk and the Learning Commons Desk. There is no short-cut and no substitute for using the manual to get your citations just right.
